Citizens State Bank's Promise. At Citizens State Bank, the basis of each customer relationship is trust. Our customers have chosen to do business with Citizens State Bank and we are obligated to honor that relationship with great care, beginning with the information they have chosen to share with us. While information is critical to providing quality service, we believe that the customer's privacy should not be compromised.
Security Standards & Procedures. Since maintaining confidentiality is at the core of Citizens State Bank's relationship with its customers, employees are educated on Citizens State Bank's privacy principles, and trained to treat customer information as private and may be disclosed ONLY in certain circumstances (mentioned below). We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products/services to you. Employees who improperly access, disclose or misuse information are subject to disciplinary action.
Citizens State Bank is committed to the security of your financial and personal information. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic personal information.
Collection & Retention of Information. We collect and retain nonpublic personal information about you primarily from three sources: (1) directly from you and/or your application(s) for products or services, (2) from credit bureaus, (3) and from your transactions with us, our affiliates or others. We collect and retain this information about you only for specific business purposes. One of the main reasons is to protect your accounts and to identify you. Another reason we need certain information is to comply with certain laws and regulations. It also enables Citizens State Bank to administer your accounts and transactions.
Sharing of Information. We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our customers or former customers to nonaffiliated third parties, except as permitted by law. However, there are some instances where we do share limited information as described below.
- Affiliates. Citizens State Bank is owned by Fidelity Holding Company (Dyersville, IA). Fidelity Holding Company consists of several different banks and companies that offer financial services. The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) allows banks within a holding company to share historical and transactional information regarding its customers among its affiliates. Historical and transactional information includes account number, customer name, account balance, maturity date, address, social security number, and payment history. (2) Citizens State Agency is owned by Citizens State Bank. Citizens State Agency provides property, casualty and life insurance services. Citizens State Bank may share historical and transactional information including account number, customer name, account balance, maturity date, address, social security number, and payment history to assist the insurance agency in providing the customer information about insurance products.
- Service Providers/Joint Marketing. Sometimes it is necessary to provide personally identifiable information about you to a party outside our affiliated banks, such as to a vendor that we hire to provide support or services for one or more of our products. We may disclose all of the services for one or more of our products. We may disclose all of the information we collect, as described above, to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements. Our service providers and joint marketers agree to safeguard our confidential information about you and your products and services with us and must abide by applicable law.
- Credit Bureau. We share certain information about you and your products and services with us with reputable credit reporting agencies as authorized by federal law and with others who may receive certain information from us under particular circumstances-but only as lawfully permitted or required.
- Government Authorities & Litigation. We are required to share information about you and your products and services with us with parties named in a lawsuit or administrative action when we are served with a subpoena or court order. We are also required to share this information with federal or state regulatory authorities, such as banking examiners or the Internal Revenue Service, as authorized by federal or state law. We may also disclose certain information in court documents if we have to bring an action against you, for example, to collect a debt you owe us.
- Customer's Request. Outside of the examples stated above, we do not disclose nonpublic personal information about customer or former customer accounts or other personally identifiable data to parties outside our affiliated banks and companies for their independent use unless: (1) the customer requests or authorizes it, or (2) the information is provided to help complete a transaction initiated by the customer, or (3) we are required or permitted by law to do so. We do not provide account or nonpublic personal information to nonaffiliated companies for the purpose of independent telemarketing or direct mail marketing of any non-financial products or services of those companies.
